I have my own workshop and tools to do just about anything on a bike. I've helped tons of people over the years with all kinds of bike related stuff but have this year decided that I'm only spending time on my own bikes. I'm short on time, I'll make sure a mates bike is working but I'm out of time to make sure my stuff is rolling nicely, I get paid in beer & chips but the cost of consumables adds up and starting to feel a bit used by some people. Anyway, I've been sticking to my "Me only" policy and have knocked back some cash jobs. A workmate has recently decided to commute to work and keeps getting flat tyres. He runs tubes so I lobbed a handful of new spare tubes his way to help out if he gets stuck with a flat at work. He's still getting flats so I suggested he goes for a tubeless setup, he'll never regret it. At no point did I imply I'd help him with it and he's done some research on setting it up himself. He has sausages for fingers, he uses a rattle gun to take the lid off a jar, topping up the oil in your vehicle means filling it until the filler pipe overflows onto the carpet of the neighbor's house and puts a rope over a load of mulch to secure the load.
He asked me to make his wheels tubeless.
I said no initially but in the room of onlookers I said I'd do it for $1,000 cash and chuckled thinking it'd scare him off.
He said yes.
