Little Things You Hate

Someone having a whinge about the trains in Sydney on Redditt.

The 2 bikes and green suitcase look very familiar. I am sure that was my train yesterday before I got on. Somewhere between that photo and hornsby a family with a pram and some additional luggage joined the shit show.

I've been switched to a mix of morning and night shifts for the next couple of weeks. I hate mornings. To double down on that, I come ripping out of the long weekend with a 7am start and fuck...that was an 8am start.

This Ben Roberts-Smith stuff is pretty wild. If reading various media outlets is to give any kind of gauge for the story behind his arrest the you can quickly see it looks like a battle between media outlets trying to one up each other. It sounds to me like one of those media outlets has baited and paid someone who may have been around the guy on tour when shit went down to spill his guts now they're all calling for the guys head. It could be someone who got yelled at by a superior has hurt feelings and wants revenge? Could be someone near to a person going through PTSD and convinced them to get in someone's ear? Who knows. To stage an investigation for so long and get to a point that they can arrest him must have some merit via evidence I guess but geez the whole thing feels off.

He did fail miserably in his attempts to sue the original news source for defamation with the full bench of the federal court saying on the balance of probability he did commit war crimes. All very similar to a slimey public servant sex predator.

The bigger test of our nations integrity will be who else is eventually dragged into this? Already the story indicates others with him have also committed war crimes and we all know "just following orders" is no defence.

Yep, you're right. It'll expose some stuff either way and will likely pave the way for others seeking fortunes to spill their guts on things that the general public should not have an ear to. Collectively the world celebrates when shit people "get what's coming to them" in the name of a religion or a commodity exploitation but do these same folks think these soldiers are just rescuing pussy cats from trees?
Shit stuff happens that you and me don't need to know about. This just feels like a media outlet dick measuring competition and reminds me why I don't do the news.

The public should definitely be aware of it. If our defence forces are perpetrating unlawful acts of barbarity they should be held to account and the public made aware. To cover it up would breed distrust among the populace. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were unpopular enough to begin with, if it war crimes were confirmed and prosecuted etc but the details hidden from the public the nation's confidence in the defence force would be significantly eroded. Transparency is very important.

Trial by media is not the way, and our media is generally a circus of gooning goof balls at best.

Mind blank on the name of the whistle blower that was punished for blowing his whistle...

100% correct, I meant we don't need the gory details creating more of a shitstorm.

To that i certainly agree. Gore porn should be limited to Al and Tipper Gore showing off windmills and solar panels. The world has enough horrible shit going on, we dont need to fuel it for headlines, likes, and sales.

I know some of BRS former colleagues. Amazing people from all walks of life. They aren't dummies, and they don't like it when their high professional standards aren't met.

Out for a ride. A few body parts were a little stiff so applied some japanese version of deep heat prior to leaving the house...I am on fire! Intense burning, sweating, slightly less stiff.
wouldn't be this stuff perchance? (Sadly mine is well out of date.. )

LTIH, responses to a request to RSVP. Pretty simple yes I can come, or no I can't come would do.

We've booked one of those trampoline joints for my daughters 8th birthday party, booking is contingent on numbers, a couple of responses have been "we'll let you know...", well yes, that's the point. Another was "oh that's when I was planning to have my daughters party...", cool story. You coming or what?

Going back 10 years now had a "friend" who is well known to be super flaky who simply didn't properly respond to the RSVP for our wedding, which if you've organised a wedding you know is a right pain in the ar$e. Responses we're "not sure", "I don't know", "maybe". It got to the point I just said sorry mate if you're not going to confirm we'll count you as no. Didn't hear from him after that. Message relayed through a mutual friend was he was offended, after I explained to mutual friend what happened he agreed with me. Some people hey!
