Hey There Ladies and Gents,

Some mates of mine are organisaing a trip to Tassie from the mainland in October this year. We have 2.5 days up our sleeve and we are basically looking for any recommendations with regards to tracks, places to stay that are MTB friendly and any other relevant facts.

Basic Schedule looks like this:

Fri: 10th Of October

Arrive Devonport on the boat.
Afternoon ride somewhwere. (Can't do a morning ride as someone is working in the morning in Ulverstone)

Sat: 11th of October

??????

Sun: 12th of October

?????
Catch Ferry Home

We're going to have 2 x cars available for use and we are pretty flexible as to which part of Tassie we can travel to. We want to experience all the good stuff.

So if anyone has any recommendations, we would appreciate hearing from you.

Cheers

Hey Trav,

Good to see you boys are booking the mission down to the little island! Lots happening on the MTB front at the moment and even more in the pipeline...

I'm actually in the process of setting up a MTB / Brewery tour business that is set to launch around that time. I'd love to work with you guys and plan an itinerary based around those times and taking into account anything else you guys want to fit in. We've got some pretty cool craft breweries and distilleries you could fit in if you're that way inclined? I'm working with some different accommodation providers around the state so could get you boys a good group booking deal and guide you around.

Here's a sample of what you could do:

Fri: 10th Of October

Arrive Devonport on the boat.
Afternoon ride somewhere. (Can't do a morning ride as someone is working in the morning in Ulverstone)

Morning - Hit up the Penguin MTB Park in the morning while your mate is at his meeting. Good for a few hours and they're doing a heap of work at the moment that might be ready by then.

Afternoon - Travel to Hobart, possibly get a late North / South run in. Lots of option re accommodation and places to eat and drink!

Sat: 11th of October

Morn - The Meehan Range is where it's at! Nice at that time of year, drains really well, suits all skill levels and is 10 mins out of Hobart. You boys will love it!

Lunch time - Travel up the East Coast (via Iron House Brewery!) to Weldbourough. Ride the Blue Tier until it's dark. Such an epic descent on very unique terrain.

Sun: 12th of October

Morn - Either get another run of the Blue Tier in early or head to Launceston and have a look at Kate Reed or the new Hollybank MTB park if it's ready by then. It will depend on what the weather has been like because the Northern trails can get very waterlogged.

Arvo - Travel Back to Devonport.

Catch Ferry Home

That's a pretty intensive schedule but you'll have smiles on your faces as you're boarding the ferry home! As mentioned, I'm setting up a business specialising in offering these sort of tours (Mud, Sweat & Cheers - Custom Bike and Beverage Tours) and if I can be of assistance give me a yell.

Cheers
