Hard to believe it has already been a year since the last Cranky Penguin.

Here we are, only months to the next Cranky Penguin marathon and we're all quite excited for next years one.

For those of you, who may not have heard of it yet, The Cranky Penguin Mountain Bike Marathon is held in Penguin, Tasmania, hence its name.

The Dial Range has been a well kept secret for local mountain-bikers. But it is time that all mountain-bikers become aware of the fantastic mountain bike trails that snake their way through these hills.

We have two length routes, a 70km route, which is "The Cranky Penguin"

And an easier 40km route "Not So Cranky" for those of you who want a decent leg burn but want to be able to have functional legs at the end.

The Course can be found at the link below..

Penguin is a sea side little town in the North West of Tasmania and is only a 12 minute drive away from Ulverstone which is the next biggest town next to it, a 19 minute drive from Burnie and about a 24 minute drive from Devonport, (As always, travel times are a rough guesstimate using google, but shouldn't be far off) so there is plenty of accommodation around.

Both the 40 and 70km route do a loop through the Mountain Bike Park (From memory, damn getting old) which uses the old Penguin speedway that has been abandoned and collecting dust, uhh weeds.. Below, is a write up about the park with a quick video.
