How many of you waiting for ebike frame/motorkits?

How many of you a waiting for a decent emtb frame and motor kit to come out?

Or have you decided to buy complete and transfer the parts wanted across and sell the old bike? ( Provided steerer etc has carried across.)

I needed a part for my bike a couple of weeks ago - propriety bottom shock mounting nutsert things .
So had to go to Trek store .
I looked at the lovely shiny bikes - all 2 avail now …..till June2022

And couldn’t justify the $11,000 for a bike just like what I have - except lower spec .

it would be easy for the manufacturers to supply the farm sets , but no where near as profitable , the gear that comes out of Europe is a lot more price / spec/ performance viable .

But ask someone to purchase a Fezzari or Bulls and they go , not Specialised or Trek .
Our market is tight and controlled by the bigger players - both have ‘ company stores ‘

Im sure that the non ebike market is similar , a couple of niche stores - no issue with that ) or buy a “ big name “ bike .
The supply chain issues will continue for at least 18 months - and I would imagine , the market may stagnate to degree as the changes in spec will be slow and ‘ constrained by supply chain challenges ‘

In saying that it’s hard to buy a bad bike , car , motorcycle as the tech/specs curve is at the peak - the next phase of development - esp in ebike s will be more like the ‘ light e ‘ smaller less powerful battery motor combos and ‘ big E ‘ for the all day super adventure riders - this tho is a smaller market
- Rotorburn is a niche .

Most mtbr s want to get out , get a ride in and do other stuff .

Even for me a short ride is a 3-4 hour turnaround , and I’m not hardcore ’ that’s ‘ just going for a ride ‘

I wish components were more reasonable priced - I still try to figure how a shock can be $600 and a set of forks are $1800 ?
How much would a frame set and a motor , controller, battery be , in a reasonably light , reliable mid mount set up ?

Sorry long ramble .
Tldr version
how much?
what is the timeline?

Replacing my Shimano e8000 on my Meridae160 8000 carbon with a Polini motor next year. Customise setting which will not void warranty. Waiting on new battery tech announcement. There's a guy selling unlock new bafang Chinese carbon bikes. Might race a few rocky trail events which are not really eMTB UH flow races. We need MTB parks to create some wicked up hill climbs which requires excellent balancing skills. They refusing besides Green Valley having one, but try get in on a ride on a weekend only booked out for months ahead. So do I need a new motor?

Keen but right now just not buying bikes cars or anything that is stupidly overpriced.

My only experience with ebike has been bafang/mid drive kits. Easy enough to bolt on andbatteries. The main issues would be standardised mid drive kits (they are already here and you can get frames for Bafang M series for example. The batter y mount however is not as maure and most still using crappy bottle bosses or custom arrangements. For me the battery is the big one. ANy proprietory battery like most of the big makes, is a no no for me, unless they have a really good supply chain and stuff is availible.

Yep, I'm waiting. As far as I know the only brand doing frameset Ebikes are specialized and they are $13k, which sort of defeats the purpose when you can get the whole bike for barely any more with the same frame minus an Sworks sticker.
I thought more companies would do this as parts are hard to get, and least theyd get some frames moving out the door, but I spose there is less margin in it?
I'll probably end up just getting the whole bike and part switching, if I can afford it.

I wish either Rocky Mountain or Norco would do a frameset, but I wonder what it would cost?

That chainring is huge. Something tells me there's no 25kp/h assist cap on that thing! :p
The motor pictured is a 500 watt (the version sold in China) and will be replaced with a 250-watt motor to comply with EPAC regulations and be road legal. It has been in use for over 6 months and has been tested and is currently problem-free

Yep that’s a Bafang M620 motor in a Dengfu E10 frame.

Looks like an m620, the cargo bike motor, not an m600

M620 is 1000watts continuous, 160nm

M600 is 500watt continuous, 120nm
