Fox Shock Spring Size Help

Once again I'm at a loss with springs and sizing.
I've got a Fox DHX RC4 that has come with a 2.50 TI Fox spring.
The shock measures around 222x70 so 8.5x2.75?
So shouldn't it have a 2.75 or 3.0 spring.
The spring itself is 145mm long if it makes a difference and appears to thread too far down the shock when mounted.

Measure the space between each coil. Total should add up to more than the stroke. If it doesn’t then it’s too short and you’ll end up binding.
