Formula One world championship

Well that took a turn..... Both McLarens DSQ for under-thickness skid blocks (planks), so no points for Oz or Noz. The win for Max brings him up to =2nd with Oz, both 24pt behind Noz. No effect on the Constructors' title result, McLaren already had that locked up (unless evidence of something truly ugly comes out, like 2007).

While it would be much nicer if Oscar was in the box seat, I was happy that at least one McLaren driver looked like winning the championship. If they've screwed this so hard that Max wins again, I will once again be forced to question why I follow this sport 🥹

that was quite the F5 session, and in the middle of all that refreshing to await the result, aston martin sacks the team principal and is rumoured to be getting horner in. horner, newey, honda, where have we heard that before?

Preceding the disqualification, I thought the points gap was too big for Max to close. But now I think it's not out of the question. Max has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Norris has everything to protect...and hopefully Piastri can somehow find some early season form and get back in there. Very exciting to have 3 drivers genuinely in with a shot of the WDC.

Yeah, I thought the points gap was too much for Max to claw back, but 25 for the win and no points for OzNoz changed that picture. I think Noz is still pretty firm in the happy seat, but it's not beyond possibility for either Oz or Max to take it. I'm not a great fan of the McLaren culture, but Max is just a typical bluddy Dutchman!

In a way, the DQ has worked a little bit for Oz, because the points deficit to Noz is unchanged; if the original results stood, Noz would have opened the gap a bit more.

On a different tack, as a long-time Williams fan I'm stoked to see them making progress. Sainz was a bit of a slow-burner early in the season but has come on strong in more recent races, with a podium and fastest lap in recent races, and P5 after promotion this weekend is a good points haul. Albon can be fast, but he's inconsistent and makes silly errors, like ripping the tip of his front wing off on another car.... Still, seemingly locked in for 5th in the Constructors', which is a big climb from the doldrums of recent years.

As I've commented before, as an Aussie I'm banging for OZcar to pull a miracle, but Williams is where my true loyalty lies. :)

There is no question that bees are critical to our survival but who knew that a bee's dick aka 0.12mm was this important ?

I would like nothing more than for OP to win the WDC but unfortunately his pace has dropped off a cliff... actually bad analogy, 9.8m/s falling off a cliff would probably be an improvement!!!

OP sprint win and on pole for the race. Needs to finish ahead of LN to force the championship to the last race. MV 3rd on the grid with nothing to lose…I hope he just sends it.

2 pt. taken out of Noz in the sprint, Oz still needs to have Noz score badly to have a real shot at the title. Oz has had a top weekend so far, so is mentally back in tune and in good shape, but Noz hasn't shown signs of fucking up enough to hand back a fistful of points to Oz.

Marzipan is in deserved oblivion, but there is still Stroll who could have an impact, figuratively and literally. ;)
Stroll is bad, but I dont think he is that much of a crash happy driver. Logan on the other hand.... He seems to just crash by himself though which is good (for the rest of the grid).

Stroll has just as much form as Marzipan for blindly snotting into other drivers. I don't think "crash happy" is the right term to describe Stroll, as it suggests some level of emotional engagement; he is just totally disengaged from reality most of the time.

Logs was incompetent, but at least had the ability to not take others out with him.
