Formula One world championship

Max was paying $7 before the weekend so that shows you how much ground he's made up.

McLaren may be powerless to stop Verstappen if he keeps this form up, Oscar dropping off is a bit of a concern.

Oscar dropping off is a bit of a concern.
Yep, he previously seemed both unflappable under pressure and possessing exceptional racecraft, but both of those have taken a hammering of late. That move on Lando on the first corner of the sprint race would've worked spectacularly, but failed to take into account there were other cars on the track likely to be doing a bit of racing as well. Not a move I would've seen him making a few months ago.

Verstappen is in the form of a lifetime and proving that the all time best drivers can win in the wrong car. His performance in what looked like really tricky qualifying conditions was peerless. Unless McLaren can start winning races again soon they're going to have to do the unthinkable (for them) and start enforcing team orders.

The one upside to all this is it's pretty funny seeing how RBR immediately return to winning races the moment they give Christian Horner the boot.

The outright pace advantage McLaren had has seemed to all but disappeared, and agree OP just can't seem to get it together like he had previously. If OP can't win any of the last sprints & races he's done.

Hahaha McLaren will struggle in supporting OP over LN - the call may have to be made now given MV's resurgence.

If MV pulls off the WDC this year it'll be one for the ages, zero support from a team mate. Single handedly fighting with the McLarens, shrugging off the team disruption.

mclaren realising they really did need to pick a side earlier
I think they did, they just didn't tell Piastri.

If Piasti's performance has dopped off in the past few races, it's understandable. I mean, his own team bullshitting him, and possibly not giving him the best engineering and parts for his car. And the utterly retarded team orders, while the TP and fat zakky carrying on like everything's fine. All that would be weighing down on him.

I rekon even if Mclaren fully went out to say they are backing Lando, that they are in with a chance to lose the WDC. Max looks in form and able to win every single remaining GP. Meanwhile the Mclaren has OP who is ahead on points but seems to be declining and Norris who is doing slightly better, but will ultimately lose the WDC if he comes second to max in most of the races. Makes more sense to back OP imo.

The real kicker is if Ferrari or George decide they want to start winning some stuff.

Edit:
A few scenarios to consider:
Max wins all, OP comes second
447
450
Max wins 4, third for rest
OP wins 1, third for rest
433
443
Max wins 3, third for rest
OP wins one, third for rest
423
443
Max wins 2, fourth for rest
Oscar wins one, 5th for rest
402
419
Max wins 3, third for rest
OP averages second with 1 DNF
423
418
Max wins 2, fourth for rest
OP wins 1, 1 DNF, fifth for everything else
402
409

Basically it's a tough deficit, but the real risk is any DNFs are going to really ruin your chances. Haven't done the numbers with Lando - obviously the same applies just a 12 point deficit.

Does this include sprint races?

This made me smile.

The first corner of Mexico was diabolical...choose your own adventure!

Piastri shocker of a qualifying and managed to pull something out the race, but now 1 point behind a very strong Norris. Max 35 points behind Norris. I think Russell is a mathematical chance if he wins every race and others have misfortune (unlikely).

2 x races and 4 x sprints to go.

FFS poor piastri.

If him and max take turns wiping out Norris, could it still be done?

Max on the other hand, what a drive!

I’ve given up on Piastri. It’s the only way to come to grips with his current performance.

Maybe he needs to sack Webber as his coach.
No no no. It's all McLaren sabotaging his car to favour Lando (if you believe the incredibly dumb shit his "supporters" have been spouting for the past few months)

Agreed though, been a very disappointing reversal since the Summer break, all of his previous unflappability has unraveled. Just one unforced error after another. Hopefully next year is better, he is still very young. Still plenty of time.

Definitely wouldn't be giving Webber the arse yet, otherwise Piastri would still be at Alpine (or fired by Briatore by now because something).

So Felipe Massa has been given the green light to seek damages for him not winning the 2008 championship on the basis that it was proved Renault cheated by having that dunger driver Piquet Junior chuck his car into the wall thus allowing Alonso to win the race. Sometime in 2009 we find out that that action and the subsequent result meant Massa losing the championship to Hamilton may not have actually happened. The heroes on Facebook keep writing Massa off saying eh needs to get over it, who cares, don't hold a grudge etc etc blah blah blah. I am one hundred percent in total agreeance with Massa and I would absolutely try to make a fucking scene over this. I followed the sport very closely for a looooooooooooooooooooooong time and loved seeing dickheads like that Briatore and Mosley get taken to the cleaners. Fucking cheats deserve all the shit that gets thrown at them and I hope Massa makes this stuff even more obvious.
Imagine the current crop of F1 "fans" that only watch it to accessorize their Netflix show find out that a race result was contrived because someone did something like this. Imagine the Aussie fans if Oscar loses the title because someone else cheated costing him points, imagine the Hamilton fans if they found out he lost a championship because the since fired race director changed the fucking rules in the last few laps to benefit one team....................... Imagine spending your family's fortune of life savings to get you a seat in a Grand Prix only to lose your lifelong goal of being champion because some cocksucker cheated and you lost.

Bring back the V10's so the noise scares the precious people away again.

How Flavio is allowed to operate freely in the F1 paddock is beyond me.

Las Vegas practice about to kick-off.

If Norris scores +10 on Verstappen, that's Verstappen done for the season.

Piastri needs a miracle. Not a McLaren track.
