I'd buy the Norco purely for brand image. Specialized are specialized and canyon are for nerds. Norco is the least pretentious and gets fantastic reviews.

similar to my reasoning for the norco purchase...

the local specialized shop was far from helpful when asking about pricing/model availability...canyon was online only obviously but better value/spec and had a significantly longer wait than the other options...the norco was well priced, the local dealer was incredibly helpful and the bike reviewed well...the norco sight got the nod

i dont regret the purchase at all...but was annoying during a recent trip to derby...pretty much every hire bike is a norco sight...

a few recent additions should have mine stand out next time around lol

Canyon runs 160mm fork, the Norco 150mm

It's a hard decision to make for sure, especially when you're blowing $4k

Another way to look at it, parts can be replaced if you're not happy.
Norco Range should have a 170mm fork (fox 36), rear 160mm.
Which in theory should be slightly better than the Pike on the Canyon.
What seems crappy to me on the Norco is the wheelset with Alex Rims (found nothing on the web) and their sram MTH 746 hubs Vs canyons DT swiss E1700.

Also I spent some time reading the bad reviews on the Canyon's warranty. I read about people waiting 5 months for a replacement bike..

Is there a huge difference between Norco's Fox Performance Float 3 pos LV EVOL and RockShox Monarch Plus R Debon Air?

cheers you are all very helpful!

Ah sht my bad, I thought you were after a Sight lol.
Monarch Plus is one of RS high end shock.

Yeah, in that case, I think Norco may be the one for you.

Norco

I have had a Norco sight for two years now,I ride it 3 times a week. I have mates on the specialised. The specialised climbers better and is quicker in tight turns. The steeper and rougher it gets the better the Nor o goes. Alex rims are hopeless and I have had two swing arms replaced under warranty. Last replacement they upgraded to a carbon model which has been good.

Like others have said both bikes are good

in my experience, low end fox shocks are woeful. the only downside to that monarch is the lack of a climb switch, which on a big travel bike could be an issue.

So the Norco shock is terrible?
Or is terrible only if you are a Pro?

My testing of the 2016 Range A7.1 had me convinced that I would buy one if I didn't already have my carbon 2015 Range 7.3

I'm a proud owner of a 2015 c7.2 range and love it. I've also ridden a 29r enduro still prefer mine but I wouldn't the enduro is a bad thing. Either bike will do what you ask of it if it's setup right.

What about rear shock?
Someone said it is not that good... I looked up for some review but couldn't find anything.

cheers

Ok I am about to pull the trigger for the norco. With what I save I will do minor upgrades and buy some protection gears :). I hope I won't regret.
