Electric Vehicles etc

Oddjob

Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
Hard to believe there isn't a LandCruiser EV equivalent around yet. I'm an aforementioned city slicker and although the Tesla probably does the most km traveling around the SW of WA. I can definitely see plenty of country people wanting a vehicle that suits their needs better than what is currently on offer. Having said that in percentage terms (especially excluding people who live in regional centres) that's a relatively small proportion of the country's population.
Land Rover and Porsche already have their plug in SUV hybrids, EVs to follow in 2024. Mercedes already have their electric versions. Already hybrid versions of the Lexus SUV.

There are the 70 series converted to electric for use in underground mining …
Only a Landcruiser in form and probably selected as no suspension mods would be required for the weight of the battery conversion, not going to be 'cruising the land' any distance in an underground dodgem that goes on charge twice a day.

Basically a city vehicle that drives around a site/plant with favourable emissions for underground use.

Have you found out if you can disable the traction control yet? Clearly some mad skids is the best way to bed it in :)

it will be a learning curve to figure out how to open the glove box. and roof racks are never in stock. will my bike fit in the boot?

thats what we've used to date on my wife's car, was hoping to avoid that here, if nothing else for the hassle of securely swapping bike rack plates
Id suggest its less hassle than unbolting wheels to get it in the boot, and getting mud inside the car...

How do you differentiate between the whir of the motor and the whir of a properly spinning tyre? :p
I live near a very popular burnout spot. The other night I hear tyres screeching but no loud engine or exhaust noise, I wondered if someone local has built an e-hoon-mobile. Like this guy:

Mine uses a lot more energy with one bike on the roof with a seasucker, might be something to consider if doing long distances with bikes on a roof rack.

The glovebox button I find quite annoying, you don't want to put your bike on a glass roof I don't reckon and yes it will, well with the back seats down. I go with stealth hitch rack which makes the rack quite low but it's fine.
