Electric Vehicles etc

I turn a dial a bit, it gets hotter or colder. I don't need to know the current temperature, I can just feel it with a dial.

Looks very similar to the one in my 24 year old Volkswagen. The hot/cold dial hasn't worked in 23 years because the stupid German engineers decided to a) make the lever behind the dial out of recycled Matchbox cars and b) connected said lever to the hot tap on the other side of the firewall with a choke cable wire run in a path that could only be described as a wonky V. Naturally, the lever broke almost immediately and resisted all attempts to repair it. So I disconnected it and fitted an actual choke cable...

I hope my new EV comes with a choke cable.

Ours is around 8 years old - it has the same layout as this but with some minor differences.

Says the guy with an average temperature swing of 14 degrees for the entire year.

Try a swing of -3 degrees to 49 degrees over the year and see how much you're fucking with the temperature dial then!

I have to play more with the climate-control in my van than any vehicle I've ever driven. As far as I can tell, the cabin temp sensor is in the cargo area (ie: behind the divider wall). Cargo area is hot, A/C goes berserk, cargo area is cold, heater goes berserk. Cargo area gradually changes temp over a long drive? Keep chasing that temp. Nice when it works right, but a dial would honestly be easier. Too many ~15deg mornings and ~35deg afternoons!
