GPL-1 / Wegovy journey thus far
Well may as well give an update for those interested - was always a skinny looking kid but at 20 whilst still skinny looking I was 95kg @ 186cm, fast forward to my 30-40's I'd got up to the 130-140kg mark still riding bikes and lifting weights but proper fat.
10-12 years ago I went from 130-140 ish down to 110 ish thru 5:2 diets etc.
But at the start of the year I was as big as I've been in 10-12 years - back to 120kg mark - tried to repeat my earlier success but couldn't seen to shift it / stick with it.
Went to the doc and got on the semaglutide train (toot toot) in the form of Wegovy
Start weight 120-122 ish kg end of Jan
weeks 1-4 (0.25mg) - at the end had lost a couple of kgs
weeks 5-8 (0.5mg) - start of period lost a few more (6?kg total) - 2nd half had lost none and felt hungry
weeks 9-11 (1.0mg) - bit of nausea- no weight loss - some cravings 115kg - Easter no doubedtly contributed to no weight loss as I drank beer for a week
week 11-12 (1.0mg ) - after Easter down to 113.5kg - so 8ish kg down
currently 1.7mg for a month
I'm active always ridden bikes so base fitness has always been OK - fit but fat, last 10 years prob as fit as I've been since my mid 20's
I've heard - "you wont feel hunrgy / forget to eat" nope not true, sometimes I forget to eat which is surprising - but more often than not I am hungry - but the near uncontrollable compulsion to eat is greatly reduced - I know some people who are self medicating with grey market Ozempic who feel this way but they are also quite inactive
I'm somewhat happy with my progress - it's expensive and I've 'only' lost 8ish kg. but it's been at a steady pace and strength hasn't seemed to suffer (I lift weights as well). I'm 1 month off the maintenance dose so we shall see how the next 3 months goes
