We were talking general shit and somehow the covid vaccine came up with the comment that they didn't believe in it because there are too many side effects because it was rushed through.
This argument really shits me. All vaccines have possible side effects, some of them are common and some rare. They will usually give you the rundown before they inject you.
As for "rushed through". It was fast tracked, not rushed. Vaccine developers allowed it to jump the bureaucratic queue because of the whole pandemic thing.
Admittedly I was a bit concerned about getting AZ, but ultimately it was all that was available despite the recommendation being for older people. They gave me a fact sheet with symptoms to watch for. And whilst I had a shit reaction to it, it wasn't a life threatening reaction.
Same with now. The recommendation is for older people to get 4th dose, but younger people can still get it if they want. Yes please, I'll take it.
I have never expected the vaccine to stop infection, rather reduce the severity of it if I get infected. Much like the 'flu vax.
