COVID-19: who’s going full doomsday prep on this?

We had to show vax proof on our NSW trip this week, was a novelty as ACT isn't mandating it, with 97.9% double dose over 12 currently.

Everyone we encountered appeared to be following the rules however we asked not to be seated at a table where the next table was 20cm away horizontally and a bit under 1m higher vertically on an upper level. One sneeze the wrong way from the people seated above, it was a spreading event waiting to happen but at least everyone there who didn't get a fake cert was double vaxxed.

I live in NSW and commute to the ACT, feels so weird wearing a mask and showing the certificate, where as in Canberra its a bit of a no worries situation, no one asks no one cares.

Although a few departments have had meetings regarding Summernats and blocking off Braddon, walking only section for the weekend for a similar event at the same time with two groups coming together from interstate will be very interesting for Canberra folk........

Still looking OK @ozzybmx for now...
Sadly we go on the 13th, 2 days short of the grand opening on the 15th.

So I have to come from a low risk state to enter Tassie.

SA records its first case of community transfer in 18 months that cant be traced back to the source.

Only 4 cases today after yesterdays 19.

South Australia has recorded its first case of mysterious Covid community transmission since the pandemic began as authorities battle to contain the latest outbreak.

In a major alert, SA Health on Friday revealed the patient with an “unknown source of infection” had spent time in the Port Noarlunga area.

Authorities urged people in the Onkaparinga Council areas across Adelaide’s outer south, including Port Noarlunga and Reynella, to get Covid tested for even the mildest of symptoms.

Contact tracers have been unable to establish where the patient contracted the virus, in the first such case in more than 18 months.

“People in the Onkaparinga LGA, including Port Noarlunga and Reynella, who have any symptoms of Covid-19, are strongly encouraged to seek testing with any symptoms whatsoever, and isolate until they receive a negative test result,” an SA Health spokeswoman said.

“SA Health is working to increase capacity in testing sites in this area.”

The first mysterious case of community transmission since April last year has emerged 10 days after borders reopened to the eastern states after 153 days. The sources of all other cases have been traced.

That's our Christmas cancelled. We won't get to the border to be tested until at least lunchtime Christmas Eve, and then we stay in a tent at a caravan park.

Any Victorians have a bed I can crash on? I'd rather catch covid than be in the same room as Mrs George and my parents on Christmas Day.

That is the gamble though. How many are going to be tested by the time we get there, and does pitching a tent count as isolating?

And try as she might, Mrs George can't lie to save herself, so going and just saying we're staying with family isn't an option.

As far as I'm aware, a tent or caravan in a public park or caravan park are not considered approved isolation places.

It has to be a house or medi-hotel.

As for a tent in the backyard of a private premises I think that's a grey area.

Awesome. I’ve been avoiding people as shops like the (literal) plague for 18 months….then yesterday went to an MTB event full of Melbourne people, followed by going to about 20 shops with my daughter in Ballarat.

You could load her up on something to help her sleep while you are crossing over...
