It'd be nice to see some 'Burners at the annual pedal fest that is our 3hr Enduro.

It's not like we are completely out of the way - even Google Maps knows where our trailhead is! Only 3.5 hours from Adelaide and 6 hours from Melbourne...surely some of you would like to see the world and ride something different.

Come and join nearly 300 other nutters from Sunraysia, Broken Hill, the Riverland, Adelaide and wherever else good people come from to dance through the trees, carve the corners, curse the pedals and raise some dust...you might even win prizes!

Prizes, prizes, prizes!

Did I point out there were prizes on offer?

Prize money for the Coomie Enduro is:
Outright 1st Male & Female each get $600
Outright 2nd Male & Female each get $300
Outright 3rd Male & Female each get $200

1st, 2nd, 3rd places in all age categories receive Trophies & Sponsor Vouchers plus there are spot prizes on offer for all comers.

And, of course, all finishers will receive a commemorative medallion.

Entries are open, the trail is sorted and we are waiting for the day...

Who's coming? Online entries close on the 16th and after that you won't get a race plate with your name on it. How's that for an incentive?

A course record of 104 riders (OK so 300 was gilding the lily, sue me) had a smashing day out on Sunday. Plenty of young tackers and more than a few of their mums included (so very good to see).

The unheralded Nankervis Brothers (AKA The Starlets) from Bendigo came up for the day (in the process wedging themselves in their econoshitbox for more hours than is possibly healthy for two tall lads) to take the overall honours (and enough prizemoney to replace said econoshitbox...or buy a set of roof racks) with Tasman taking the honours (3:12:54.3) over Russell by roughly 45 seconds after eight closely fought laps of the 9.7km course. Joseph Leonard nailed third with his eight laps in 3:22:55.6.

Megan Aldgate from Broken Hill was again the first woman home with seven laps in 3:14:47 followed by Anna Puckridge (again! next time?) from Adelaide and Coomie's very own Madam Pappin in third...

Too much fun was had by all. And far too much dust.

For the record, your correspondent managed a personal best by nailing seven laps for the first time (and quite possibly last time if trail development talks develop into actuality) but still managed to finish in much the same place in the pack. So my B grade colleagues must have all been on the same shit, dammit.

To all who missed out, couldn't be there, didn't want to travel or simply settled for the Dirty Deeds or the Kowalski...sucked in. It was a hoot. But there's always next year...we'll be here.

And next time there will be switchbacks...probably sandy switchbacks...but there will be switchbacks. :mmph:
