Well, given my hand relaxing antics with the supracush's I thought I might do the same with these oneup grips since they are ribbed for pleasure.

But had a good hit out on them last night and even though my hands and arms were munted from some very labour intensive work during the day the one ups were excellent.

I was very conscious of the ribs on the first descent but quickly forgot about them and just enjoyed the ride.

EDIT: Just to be very clear. I am talking about the grips :p
Sounds good. The grips that is. Will add to the list when the Supacrush wear out.

I am disappointed you didn’t get pink or purple to compliment your red rims ;)

Putting a new front tyre on and retaping the rims etc. Switching from Gorilla Tape to cheap polyimide tape. Rims cleaned up nicely, tape went on ok, but tapes less flexible than I’m used to so got a few creases and bubbles here and there. Don’t normally worry about inflating a tube in the tyre to help seat the tape, but figure it’s probably worth it this time. Punch the valve hole, throw the tube and tyre on and start inflating. Weirdly the valve isn’t really coming through as far as it should. Pop the bead and have another crack at getting the valve through and it won’t go vary far through. Then I noticed…

Even schrader valves aren’t fuckwit proof.

What is that rubber thing that's attached to your valve ;)

Tubeless time.
Temp to make sure the tapes down properly (not something I’ve worried about before). Superior tubeless schrader valve going on shortly. No doubt will insert it backwards first few times.

Would have been even more fuckwit if you thought the valve hole was too small and so you drilled it bigger

Never entered my mind.

But I’m not going to say what my first idea was to deal with bubbles in the tape.

Anyway, tube is out now and tubeless valve in. Not sealing at the valve for some reason. This never happens to me I swear.

have you used that valve with that rim before? Some valve shapes just don't work with certain rims. You can always bodge it with a dab of silicone, but I wouldn't recommend it as it will probably let go at the most inconvenient time in the middle of nowhere.

Yep, done that trailside putting a tube in after puncturing the tyre and sealant wouldn't seal up. Mine was screwed all the way down so didn't notice but did think I must've dropped that little knurled nut. Only found it when I went to repair the tyre.

Yeah, same valve from before which was fine. Tried a new valve and doing same thing.

Only thing different is switch from Gorilla Tape to polyimide.

All jokes aside @ashes_mtb - that polyimide tape is shit. Hard to get to seal in the first place, and even then it tends to lift over time anyway.

Last lot of (readily available) tape I used was some 3M exterior tape from Bunnings. It'd let go after about 18 months or so, but removed cleanly and reapplied easily too. Only tedious part was trimming the roll down to a ~32mm width (I like to leave it a couple of millimetres wider than the rim bed to make sure it gets totally locked-down by the tyre bead. I found some tape would pull away from the rim wall if they were the same size as the inner width of the rim once they'd deformed into the central rim channel.

Yeah, wasn’t impressed by the polyimide as soon as I started applying it.

Trimming down hassle was really the only reason I ditched Gorilla Grip. Think they current set up has been on there for 18 months at least now and was still going fine. Wasn’t even that hard to clean up to he honest.

Will rip this off and retape and hope that solves the issue. Otherwise I’ll go back to Gorilla Tape for now.

Got new valves coming so just need it to get me through a few months before I redo again.

Just to rub salt in, it looks like my heavy handedness trying to shove the locknut through the valve hole has cracked and taken a small chip out of the rim.

Also found another decent crack in the rim on the other side.

New wheel time… ☹

@ashes_mtb are you sure its the valve leaking.

It may be a taping problem and the air is getting inside the void through a spoke hole somewhere around the rim, then the air leaks out around the valve hole making it seem like a valve issue.

Ride day at the local super easy dh track. Rode like a complete joey, 4 crashes in 3 runs.
Last crash was following a mate down and he pulls up for a slower rider. I come round a corner, see him stopped and hit the anchors, whilst I was in the air after hitting a small lump/jump. Bike lands, front wheel let's go, 135 kgs hits the deck shoulder first and Hobart records an earthquake of 2.1 on the Richter Scale.

Pain kicks in immediately and I'm struggling to breathe and begin crawling on all 4s gasping for air and moaning like a pornstar auditioning for their first role on some gross black casting couch.

After a few seconds I feel the breeze on my ass and realise the crash had pulled my shorts to my knees so I was crawling around on the track essentially in my undies.

Choosing vanity over pain I got back to my feet and hiked up my pants, filled some of the man sized divot and managed to finish my run. Couple of hours later pain kicks in and looks like bruised front and back ribs, again. Pain in my shoulder around the scapula with movement but ok to touch but my upper pec is super sore to touch. Can't really lift anything and Hurts like hell when taking deep breaths and worse when sneezing or coughing. Normal breathing is OK and can move my arm above my head so ribs unlikely to be broken

No pics or video sorry.
