Chinese eBay Lycra any good?

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with the kits from eBay that a fakes of brand names and teams

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/32121747...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

My position is using up to 3-4 kits a week I am tired of paying hundreds of dollars for a jersey. I am not looking into these for their 'brand name' but it is near impossible to find anything that isn't plastered with sponsors and brands... fake or not.

So has anyone bought these? and could you give some feedback regarding fit and quality (for $40)

I have bought a few from China which appear virtually the same.

Quality and fit is excellent. It really is 99+% or exactly the same as genuine team kit, which I also have to compare to.

For $40 give them a go you can hardly lose out.

I did not buy mine from ebay, I got them elsewhere.

I bought a few sets - all were very small for their listed size, and one had the chamois in the wrong spot!

Maybe I was just unlucky.

they are identically looking to originals, zips are lower grade, pockets a bit tighter, fit good, fine for what you're spending - except that the grade of lycra is a finer inferior type. you'd only notice this if you compare to original, so the wicking properties aren't the same.

Me too. I got some Cervelo Team kits and they were waaaay too small.
An exampple, in Pearl Izumi genuine stuff I am an L, I purchased an XXL Team Kit off eBay and they were so small they cut off the circulation in m legs.
Chammy was also no9t stiched straight so only half my ass was cushioned. Binned them.

Got another set and on the first wash a whole bunch of stitching came undone.
I dried them on the heater that night and even though they were white and black lycra, all the white sections went green!

I did also buy some el cheapo ones off ebay that were stitched nice and have been as good as anything else I have used but the lycra is just a bit thinner than the quality stuff you pay big bucks for.

I thought they were great, particularly jerseys cos they aren't doing a lot let's face it. Bibs, the chamois is not as good, but reasonable. On long rides the cheap bibs can get uncomfortable if the stitching is too course. I reckon eBay for jersey chain reaction for bibs.

Have you guys used the dhb stuff off wiggle? It's very well priced..

I've just ordered a bib, jersey and two underlayers to give it a go, I figure for similar money to the ebay kits but with a big brand that has a reputation to hold up you can't go too far wrong. Plus, it's not pretend team kit :llama:

I just had a look. Very well priced for jerseys.

But the bib-shorts are not especially cheap - all being ~$85 plus.

I just ordered these for just over $40.

To be honest, the difference in quality of bibs is quite pronounced I've found. Particularly if you're on the bike for more than two hours. Craft performance level bibs are tops. RRP is around $150 (easily pick them up for cheaper), but it's well worth having a couple of pairs of nicer bibs.

Fair enough, I missed it, but I reckon thats the only ones under $80.

Ive never had an issue with them, and I have a couple of team bibs - Drapac Porsche and Saxo Bank to compare to. However I very rarely ride longer than 2hours to be honest.

I buy mine from AliExpress, and can get bib plus jersey delivered for under $50. They're perfectly fine for me, no quality issues at all, no rough stitching or misplaced chamois.

i bought a fox kit, found the jersey to be a bit small and the color bled really bad/faded on first wash.

also im a bit dubious about the padding in the bib shorts, it just seems cheap like maybe no support so i have only been using it for smaller rides. although i can only compare it to my castelli gear

took about a month to get here.

worth a shot for $40 and fine for mid week short rides

I bought some stuff from monton, any like everyone else said, the size were small, they do the trick, and for the price you can't really go wrong.

Yeah Im thinking I might try and pick up some jerseys from eBay and order some decent knicks from castelli, santini etc. Im a big bloke 6'6" and skinny cyclist build so it seems xxl might be the go?

I found with bibs I had to try them on, as I'm not skinny. I also found they were not much cheaper online.
Jerseys tend not to wear too much, zips and pockets are the weak points (and easily fixed) but knicks and bibs do wear a lot from pedalling

I use the dHB bibs for the most part - I find them perfectly comfortable most of the time.

I'm closer to 90kg and about average height, I use them for road, mtb and cx.

Jersey's I usually wear my bike shop or event ones I've aquired for commuting.

Ask me about HoboBlo franchise opportunities
I use these guys heaps not as cheap as Chinese but cheaper than most stuff you can get here and fantastic quality I have had there stuff for nearly 3years now still working as intended.

Just ordered some jerseys from eBay, ended up going 3xl after looking at the fitting guide - hope they're not massive! And now wiggle has 50% for dhb. Time to order some Knicks

I started off with chinese lycra . Did the job to begin with and only lasted a couple of months before threads began to come loose . Now i use a mix of cannibal and limar gear which i like . Winter wise i tried this Aussie made ebay long fleece lycra . http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/18113984...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 > Fit is true to size and the quality excellent . For the price you will be surprised at the quality of material and chamois . MR Cycling World has his own brand gear which is good kit also . I have their wind vest and gives a lot of protection .
The important factor is be comfortable and when you find stuff you like stick with it .
