I am not up on the correct pronouns etc, however, I believe he is a trans-gender male (female -> male).
His family was ultra-religious and not supportive of this decision, and I believe this kicked off the chain of events that led to the shooting (sorry if this is incorrect and if I offend anyone).

My bet is none of them will be quick, they seemingly take a long time but indicting him with one of his first major misdemeanours (that we know of) rather than one that's just going to get the most headlines is a good start imo.

Unless the US economy implodes in the next 18 months I just don't see it happening. Trump has the MAGA voters that will support him no matter what he does, but there's not enough of them to put him back in and outside of MAGA he alienates twice as many (if not more) voters as he engages.
They are gutless cowards too scared to alienate the MAGAs and too stupid to see what that ultimately means for them.
The LNP here are the same though, shit scared that PUP or ON will take the far right away and in the process of keeping the nutters entertained lose complete touch with the middle and middle right. Takes balls to realise your party needs a makeover.

He's been in the game for a long time, so he has a lot of experience (which is showing in how much he's negotiated). There are plenty of other decent candidates waiting in the wings who can't be tarred by the MAGAs as socialist extremists (Whitmer, Buttigieg and a few others I can't remember the names of, plus maybe even a Republican or two who hasn't gone full batshit).
After the divisiveness of Trump the US desperately needed a conciliator who was going to quietly try their best to bring the country back together, and I think Biden was probably the best choice for that.
