Banshee Gravel bike!

I messaged Ozzy about this last night (as no FB) only to be told he had bought it. This is what i was thinking except gears. A 'spare bike' for dad and kid type overnight gravel camping adventures.

Sorry matey :)

SS thoughts been swirling for a while. Would have been nice to have the drop bar option but not working for me now with a large.

I'm tempted to get a set of these if I go for a new SOMA Wolverine (or similar) -

I tried some of those heaps-backsweep type bars (Jones Loop riser H-bars) a while back and really didn't gel with them. Felt like they were designed more for aesthetics than comfort/performance. Ended up with some SQ Lab 3OX 12-deg backsweep bars and some SQ Lab 'inner bar-ends' and it really feels like the best of both worlds. Slight amount of extra sweep means my wrists don't get sore compared to how they did with normal MTB bars, still retains the handling of an MTB when you need it, and the inner bar-ends provide a roadie-like inner & forward hand position which is very handy when JRA in a (mostly) straight line. It actually handles quite well from the hoods but it's a bit of a game of dare when you can only lightly apply the brakes with your pinky fingers!

I tried some cruiser Kona bars a while back, the sweep was similar to Jones bars, and it was utter shit for my wrists and caused a carpal tunnel flare up.

FWIW (@beeb and @Jabubu ), moloko bars have slightly less sweep than Jones bars and haven't caused me any issues.

They sound like a good solution too.

The Jones bars look too extreme for me, I'm drawn to the utility of the Moloko - bar bag, lights, computer, flare gun, billy club mount...

One of the problems with the moloko is the eye watering weight. Yeah you're touring weight is weight, but seriously it's like a half kilo on standard alloy flat bars.

Personalyl I run ergon with the bar ends. Wrist position is great for when you have to walk the bike up the hill - Swept back bars would be a disaster for this!

The Moloko bars are cromoly steel, too. Whilst weight may be a dealbreaker for some - but only 80ish grams more than the similarly shaped alloy version of the Jones Loop Bar , they should have a nice vibration damping feel.
I'll take less road or trail vibration over sore wrists and arms any day.

@Labcanary I watched a couple of Hardtail party's youtube vids riding Jones bikes. From what I can gather, Jones bar geo is designed to suit their frames, sizing and generally more upright riding position. And yes, the backsweep on those loop bars is 45degrees, right? that seems a lot.
