All my Aliexpress MTB purchases reviewed.

Not AXs fault but stupid customs have been 'inspecting' my order since the 11th of September. It's just a chain ring, pedals and seat (kids) and a led headlight. Pretty hard to conceal Shanghai Sally in those things.

Maybe 6 months ago bought a ZTTO AE bb set. Last few weeks I notice a cracking and creaking noise. Have a good look and the bearings a destroyed. They must have been made from chewing gum.
Bike is my pub/path bike. Hasn’t had a lot of miles, nor mud or rain and rarely gets washed.

Do not recommend.

Can you knock the bearings out and get better quality Japanese or German ones?

I suspected that would likely be the case with those headsets/BBs. Thanks for being the test subject to confirm. I would hazard a guess that the bearings in ZTTO/Koozer/Goldix hubs may follow a similar story, have a front wheel currently in use on one of those hubs, and a rear on another bike. Will keep y'all updated one when they need replacing.

Generally, yep, so long as you get the same sizing ofc. I've done this with knockoff DT Swiss freehubs before installing them, as those are also usually shite.

Looks like I could but I’d rather just bin em and buy something decent like I should have done in the first place.

Hope.

I’ve had a CC hellbender now that started life in my now yours Highlander and it’s the much maligned, hated on and mocked 30mm bearing size and it keeps trucking. 3 plus years maybe, not sure. Still running smooth and nice. gonna stick with what works.

Also on a side note I pulled apart a Works component headset a while ago. Full of orange gunk.
Same vintage Hellbender headset clean as a whistle.

"Highprecision" lolz

It's a good thing I was planning on making some new end caps for it (need 110mm not the 100mm that it is) hahaha

I need to replace all the bearings in my DTswiss 350 hub and it's only 1 year old.
