All my Aliexpress MTB purchases reviewed.

What the dial indicator graduations in?
They're .01mm and 0-10mm. I would have preferred 1mm and 0-50mm but I suppose I can get it close with the caliper things and then put the indicators on.
Let me know if you want to borrow it, I can drop it off when I'm out your way.

0.01mm, that's pretty fine tolerance. I was thinking 0.1mm

After doing some mid-ride trail maintenance out at the YYs recently I tore the finger of one of my gloves. TBF they already have a hole in them so it was only a matter of time.

Got these from AliEx. Quick postage, little bit of knuckle and palm protection too (I don't mind thicker gloves). Usually I'm a large and they are tight but stretch out a bit.

These I bought XL from some of the reviews. These fit snug like an Australian large so I expect them to stretch out nicely.

I just found this on AliExpress:

I also bought a generic bolany wide range 8sp cassette (11-46t) for the old ATX 860.

Haven't ridden it yet as I need an 8sp quick link to join some extra chain lol.

Has anyone bought and used seal drivers that have the stop for flangeless seals?

None of the Photoshopped images inspire confidence, they mostly show older flanged seals, and no listings clearly address it.

I am an idiot and finally got caught out with a flat AXS battery today.
While the obvious answer is to remember to charge it, I was thinking it would be good to have a back-up in the car for the future just in case.
RRP on legit ones in around $125, but does anyone have any experience with the Aliexpress ones?
I'm aware the $20 aliexpress one may have a worse lifespan, but it would be for emergencies only so as long as it holds even a couple of hours of charge, I can live with that.

For future reference if anyone is interested.

I bought an Aliexpress battery and had it in my glovebox for an emergency (AKA I forget to charge the primary battery), and I finally ended up using it last weekend.

It broke in 3 runs. 0 power to derailleur.

I got home and pulled out the multimeter, and there was no current detectable. I noticed that the battery made noise when I shook it, compared to the legit AXS one that doesnt. I was outside the 90 day warranty/return period so I decided to pop the little fella open and have a look. Turns out the cells had come unstuck from the shell of the battery, and had broken one of the connections to the PCB while bouncing around inside. After a little bit of soldering, a bit of spare plastic to reduce the space inside the battery shell, and some epoxy, it works perfectly again.

I've yet to ride it on trails again, but I think i'll stick with it and give it a proper test now rather than putting it back in glovebox straight away.

I will say that I was at Mt. Baw Baw for the Vic DH Series when I broke it, and anyone who's ridden that fireroad at top speed knows how rough it is on bikes, but still I'm a little disappointed at only getting 3 runs out of it. Hopefully with this repair it'll be a little more durable.

Yeah I bought one for a 36 and it was all good. Unior ones are made really well and aren't too expensive too.

Decided to take a gamble for the rotorburn forums.
Sunringle SD37 rims, Koozer hubs with upgraded dt swiss champion spokes -$250 aud including $20 spoke upgrade). Weight is 2.2kg ( Mullet , 32H, 40T engagment). EMtb forums had good reviews on this hub so hopefully i can give some positive update in the future.

SEEKRUN S7 - Dropper post was $200ish with the cashback. 175mm travel 31.6mm. Had to buy an adapter for my 34.9 frame. First impressions and use is the travel return is quick but also has a very loud clunk sound, reminds me of the rockshox reverb. Zero information on service intervals or instructions. We'll see how this compares to my previous Bike yoke revive dropper.

Ordered one of those not-switchgrades out of curiosity, will test and report in when it rocks up.

In other news, recent purchases:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007827196349.html - rim tape, far as I can tell, it's identical other than logo to the Muc-Off tape that i've been using the last few years, which has worked extremely well.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007934607051.html - Goldix rear hub. Actually really nice, well finished, bearings seem okay (time will tell). Built up to:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003363177434.html - Carbonbeam rim in 36x30 380g version. Also really well finished with what looks to be a good layup. ERD accurate, built up to above hub with Pillar PSR TB2018 spokes and brass nipples. Has gone on a family members Rocky Altitude, if it ever breaks will report in.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010114981244.html - Shimano shifter to Sram MMX clamp, both fit as expected, shifter position is good. Shifter clamp to EV adapter doesn't quite mate up flush with shifter body, leaves gaps where crud will probably get in the plastic housing.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008633930964.html - +20mm PM adapter, appears genuine, hell of a lot cheaper than instore.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006408430167.html - Cheap UDH. Works. I keep bending them, so wasn't liking forking out for official ones.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006906524173.html - Socks. Like these more than I thought I would, well made, comfy, cheap.

Those carbon beam rims are solid. Just spent a week banging rocks at trans Tasmania with one on the front.

I used the Switchgrades Installation Guide type 3 to help fit mine.

Kicking myself as prices have gone up on those carbonbeam rims and shipping too. Should have bought when I was looking a few months ago.

Ordered an Aliexpress special. 3D printed carbon saddle and SRAM 36t chainring.

Sat on a Specialized 3D saddle and didn't mind it. I didn't want to spend an exuberant amount on a saddle that may not suit (some are up to $700!) Here we have about $50 for it landed among other things.

The chainring was around the same price, alot cheaper than pushys.
- Quality seems ok.
- Markings on the machined sections look the same as genuine.
- Etching looks the same (except Sram China Only).
- Tooth profile looks identical.
- The inner spider arms? are possibly slightly more square edge as opposed to a rounded feel.

Keen to see how they fair, chainring lifespan will be interesting.
