It’s a real shame, as he was a fantastic racer.

It’s pretty clear that he no longer has the (immense) desire to push/risk/win that you need in the current series so his career just seems to be fizzling out. That is pretty normal for most guys at this time in their career but it just draws so much attention as he was so dominant for a period.
FWIW he did endure that crash that looked like it was directed by Michael Bay there last year. Might've been playing on his mind a little returning....

That's some impressive healing!

I saw (part of) a vid if him riding (very fast) at Schladming the other day but assumed he was just hooning around. Back to a WC after that break so quickly is a great effort.
