Righto thanks to the Coomealla Club we have some decent prize money (Men and Women get same!) and thanks to some enterprising clubbies we have some trophies...so now we have to have a race.

Want to come? It'll be on Sunday 18th September at the Coomealla Mountainless Mountain Bike Park near Dareton in Far West NSW which is quite close to Mildura in North Western Victoria...which is not far from Adelaide... somewhere over there.

Please come and enjoy our track...you will never pedal harder.

You might even get to represent Australia afterwards...hat tip to Tasman Nankervis, one of our previous winners.

We'll have the Entry Zone mob onto it soon enough so you can enter ($30 plus $25 mtba day licence if not an MTBA member)...but for now...claim the date!

And now it is ON. Sunday 18th September 2016

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, riders and racers, rockers and rollers...

Entries are now open. Join us in our little folly in flat land....we'd really enjoy your company

If it helps persuade you...outright men and women 1st place will each get $600 and a very nice trophy, 2nd will each get $300 and a nice trophy while 3rd will each get $100 and a very adequate trophy. And there's plenty other swag and good company on offer for a comparatively small entry fee...

Ours is not to reason why. Merely to point and giggle.

Righto. Last bump! Enter before midday Wednesday and you'll get a personalised race plate and save yourself the expense of an extra ten bucks on your entry fee...

We could get as much as 50 mm of rain on the track in the next couple of days so it won't be dusty (nice change) but it will be incredibly grippy (provided we don't get more rain...not looking likely).

The track we've sorted is a ripper and the pointy end will see off seven 11 km laps...the rest of us should be happy with five or six.

Ours is not to reason why. Merely to point and giggle.

We've been fortunate. The expected rain hasn't eventuated...but it has rained. We are still on for Sunday.

Entry via Entryzone closes on Friday but you'll have to get in by lunchtime tomorrow if you want your name on a race plate. After that you can enter the night before at the Coomie Club in Dareton or before 9 am on the day.

The track will be mostly quite hilarious and grippy. There will inevitably be some mud in the usual places but most of it should be firm by Sunday...unless the Rain Gods play nasty tricks. We don't have the traffic of the big tracks and a dedicated trail crew so if we do tear it a new one in places then we can make something of it shortly afterwards. So don't feel too precious about not having a good time somewhere this weekend...

Ours is not to reason why. Merely to point and giggle.

The Coomealla Mountainless Mountain Bike Club's Annual 3 hr Enduro has been run and won for another year.

Nature played its part again with a couple of mm of overnight rain and a rather chilly and insistent south wester. The first lap became a thing of something that will soon become legend - it was that treacherous.

However, the track soon settled down and became much more straightforward to negotiate.

After three and a bit hours of racing, Russell Nankervis (Bendigo), Jack Lamshed (Melbourne) and Peter Herath (Melbourne) took away the men's prize money. Congrats to Russell on the win... you made me feel like a spectator when you lapped me after less than 30 km!

In the womens field, Anna Puckridge (Adelaide) backed up her win last year with another win followed by Megan Algate (Broken Hill) and Bobbie Pappin (Wentworth). Actually it's the same podium as last year!!! And they all beat me too. Again...

So thanks to the 75 odd riders that turned up to brave the less than ideal conditions...as for the rest of you... there's always next year.
