I reckon the alloy ones of this vintage looked heaps better than the carbon. Those hydroformed squared off alloy tubes were so distinctive.
I really wanted the SB-95 version that was also in the line up, they came in a raw alloy variant too that the 66 wasn't offered in for some reason:

That's what I was going to say lolHeavy? Add 200+ grams (per tyre) in 29er spec, and further away from the hub the more you feel it. Those will be sick.

So awesome that YETI have a whole bunch of parts still available on their online store for the SB66. I was tempted to get the bearing kit and a derailleur hanger, but the main thing I needed was the ISCG05 mount. There are a lot of paint chips in the rear carbon triangle so I got some touch up paint and will add some clear protection film there later on. The Ergon saddle was on a clearance sale so I added that to the cart too.
I'd go 1x10 with 11-42 cassette and a 30/32 tooth crankset. I still own two 26' bikes and run 32/11-36 on one and 32/11-34 on the other. I was able to rid the 32/11-36 (NS Surge Evo) at a few CX races around Hobart and didn't die (HR2 on the back).

I’d recommend picking up a bearing kit or two. The main switch bearing (the big one) can get a bit of wear and can also be a prick to get out. Had to have mine cut out with a dremel once. Highly sweat inducing

All this show and tell on this thread, and in the 'Best 26 inch' thread, has practically got me in tears. Especially after me last 26er, a carbon Giant XTC, was run over my another rider in 2016 while laying in the grass next to my car up the Derwent Valley.

Well I missed out on the Ironhorse Sunday. Seller sold it to the guy who originally put up a WTB on FB Marketplace which is fair!
Works Components -1.0 Degree ZS44-ZS56 angleset (102g).
Really happy with the quality of the Works Components angleset I put on the Chisel so I ordered another one for the Yeti.
With the longer 160mm 27.5″ fork I plan to put on the bike it should slacken the head tube angle from 66.7° to 64.6° and correct the slackened seat tube angle (from installing a longer fork) at least a little bit (71.7° to 70.8°).
On install I noticed the head tube shape isn’t round, but a unique almost boxy shape (you can see the unpainted surface around the upper head cup). I freaked out for a second thinking I might be missing some sort of headset to frame interface but on inspecting other SB66 builds online and zooming into photos it turns out this is how it is.

FOX 36 forks came in the mail today. 2124g including the QR axle and cut steerer.
Kashima was a must.
I actually missed the DHL delivery of these forks yesterday when I was out at Avalon Beach to pick up the Iron Horse Sunday. Kinda freaked me out as I’ve lost some pretty valuable packages when couriers have left them outside my building.
These required a signature though, so I rescheduled for today and voila! They got to me from the USA safe and sound.
Didn't have the balls to slam the stem, so I've cut the steerer to allow for a 10mm spacer. I've got some decals on order from SLIK Graphics; "FOX Kashima" for the FOX and 36 type and "almost black" for the other design elements. Should look great!

Updates have been slow, but the groupset is finally at the shop, seatpost too and my 26" carbon wheelset has been sent! Just have to wait for them to come in from Xiamen, China (should not be longer than a week). Decals for the fork should be here this week too!

Shimano XT Di2 M8250 Medium Cage (468g). Shimano Deore Di2 SW-M6250 I-Spec EV (100g).
Dropper: FOX Transfer NEO, 30.9mm, 125mm (576g).
Dropper Lever: FOX Transfer NEO (62g).
I-Spec EV is annoying to set up, but I admit it's got a lot more adjustability than SRAM MatchMaker.
Carbon wheelset came in too from ZEN Carbon Bike! Dynamic 32mm tubeless (17g) tape went on easy and the trusty Airshot did the job.
ZEN Carbon Bike 30mm int, M340/Hope Pro V, Sapim CX Ray (1413g).
Tyres pumped up so damn fat! Geo is actually looking good sitting next to my Amflow!
Just waiting on the crankset to arrive. I totally fucked up the brake install and crushed an olive. I've never bled brakes before but fuck it I'll drop into CCACHE to get it done once the cranks are on!
