I think that depends on the starting point. If replacing a car that's at end of life then it stacks up.
We have friends that got rid of their 2 year old ICE car, copped massive depreciation and spent more on an EV to save money on petrol and servicing. That's a false economy.
I get it if...
My 200 series has about 3/4 a tank left so I didn't bother about it. Been using the wife's EV a lot more though. I think I'm running out of fuel for the ride on mower and stuff, but yeah it is what it is. I'll just buy some when I need it. Most people still need to buy fuel, it's not like you...
The Hardieflex stuff is a PITA to work with and dispose of. I recently demolished a fence that contained a shitload of it, all stamped 2008. I had a hard time finding a skip business to take it, as it gets treated as asbestos unless tested to confirm. I found one place that was happy to take...
Yeah the car was optioned with SV5000 (16x8 30p) wheels when new. 30p because IRS but the downside meant they were very hard to find. I always liked the VP GTS wheels as I think the 30p gave it a little more dish. I think period correct wheels also look a lot better than 19 or 20" simmons...
With power, I did it after the slab pour. A lot of people do it prior and have the electrician run the cables, ready for the concreters. The resulting penetration either is too close or too far in from the edge of the slab from what I saw.
I wanted the cables in a particular spot in front of...
I've probably re-arranged my shed 3 times so far and still not happy, but thats the OCD engineer in me.
Added a four post hoist couple of years ago. Perfect for putting another car underneath.
I had general CT on this before and they were good enough to lock it up when pushed, so at least I know I’m comparing like to like.
The booster is a better (compared to VP) dual diaphragm VT one matched to the VT master cylinder. The pedal feel is really good, almost feels modern haha. Just...
Ok so old mate couldn't sort it, required the entire brake line to be removed. I went to a brake and clutch place to get a new adaptor, still leaked. They also supplied me with a copper washer in case it still leaked, that sorted it. I am not happy with this arrangement so may get a set of new...
Everyone reckons it's a massive upgrade in braking, as the better dual diaphragm booster and slightly larger master cylinder provides more bite on the original V8 calipers.
I suspect its been bent sometime in the past. This is from the factory manual.
Edit - perhaps that line has been cut in the past hence the sharpish bend.
Yeh that was the original bend, and the one that’s leaking. Wasn’t leaking previously. It’s leaking between the adaptor and the mc so perhaps some dirt or something in there preventing it sealing. Either way I’m not a fan.
I’ll get old mate on Thursday to sort it out.
I had the brake booster and mc replaced in the VP in 2004. After years of shit braking and somehow getting worse I purchased a VT/VX booster and MC conversion about a year ago. Had to hunt down an AU reservoir so it sat level. Pulled my finger out and installed it on Sunday.
Original...
Yeh I went through a huge craft beer phase which has now passed. I'll still go to Saccharomyces to pick up something unusual every now and again. Last time it was a couple of pastry stouts and some combo pack from Seeker (from Unanderra).
My main beers these days are Weihenstephaner Helles...
I don't drink as much anymore, on the other side of 45 heading towards 50, hangovers hurt too much. A few beers over the weekend or some rum/gin/single malt, but what I do drink is now highly selective. Quality over quantity. I also got a warning from my doc after a blood test showed my liver...
