    Focus Bikes..Any good?

I'd recommend them emailing Focus directly to confirm the warranty period. Don't email the shop, get a confirmation from Focus and then save it. Even after getting my bike covered, I don't know what warranty an aluminium Focus like that has. They don't state it anywhere, that I have seen.

    Focus Bikes..Any good?

Cracked around the bottom bracket, first they rejected it as a "paint crack." So I sprayed WD40 down the seat tube. When the dirty wd40 came dripping out they just rejected it again, now claiming it only ever had a two year warranty. They sent me an outdated warranty PDF from 2012 as "evidence"...

    Focus Bikes..Any good?

Watch out buying a non-ebike Aluminium focus! They state a six year warranty on CARBON frames.... Focus then very generously offers a ten year warranty on both carbon and Aluminium ebikes. Notice no mention of Aluminium bikes without a motor? In 2021 I had the warranty denied on my two and a...

Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

I've seen a CX7 on four trolley jacks, one in each corner and all wheels off at a tyre place I go to for work. They took both rear wheels off my Van with a trolley jack on each side, so handbrake certainly wasn't holding it, I was just waiting for it to start moving. Nothing happened.

    Wheel Build Advice Thread

The "super accurate" gauges aren't just about measuring the final result. You can "see" the whole variation in the rim and aim for the middle of the range. You will be able to see exactly where the bend starts and start tightening from the first spoke after it. I used to try and to remove the...

    Electric die grinder recommendations/experiences

In about 2014, the boilermaker's shop I worked for had two 240V Makita die grinders that were shared by everyone. They were treated like garbage, I personally sent one flying when not paying enough attention cleaning out a bored hole, it bent the shaft of the burr to about 45 degrees. They both...

    The stupid questions thread.

I was going to say that I used to use the quilted blue stuff at an old workplace, we called them "Roar wipes". I just figured out where that name came from after almost 20 years

If you're on a budget, have you looked at what factory wheels are out there? Way better than cheap aftermarket. i30 N-line has 18s, they're not that good looking though. Kia Cerato GT has 18s too, that might actually look ok. I think these are 18? Get them powdercoated all black and they...

No 15mm for the nuts on 12mm dynabolts No 16mm for common 10mm hardware No 18mm for common 12mm hardware An 11mm? I've only used a 11mm socket when I'm to lazy to find a 7/16" I've never seen a bolt or nut with an 11mm head, are they a thing? probably why they have to give them away, still a...

Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

I will tell Dad to get it done tomorrow. I was just trying to work out the scheme, like they have the same 14 days until they need to transfer the rego, regardless of when the seller puts their form in

Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

I don't have anywhere else to ask this; My dad just sold a car, got paid cash, signed papers and got a photo of the buyers ID that had matching details. But the buyer asked him to wait the maximum 14 days to submit the vehicle disposal notice, to transfer the rego. Why would they want that? I...

Metal Working! Fitting, Machining, Welding, Sheet and General Metal Fab

I swap one or both the pins on the "letterbox" flip lens out for bits of wire to fine tune how easy it is to shut it with a quick nod. I never flip the whole helmet down just before welding. Just snap the small lens down To each their own, both methods are equally out of date ;)

I started using one of these lenses six months ago, in a standard flip-lens helmet (CIG hiderok) Maybe done 100 welds on 3 inch and 2 inch tube in that time, so it's had a moderate amount of work and been flawless...
