What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Bloody tough day at the office. Started dry, ended very wet, but still rode up one more time to do the pro stage that was optional/untimed for everyone other than elite.
I regret it, but no ragrats. View attachment 387900
Super fun day, the bottom of stage 5 was chaos in the mud! Here’s some footage I saw on IG:

Great effort for doing stage 6 too, I was cooked after the 5. Did you hit the rock garden on 6 in the wet? I did a run of it yesterday and smashed my chainring so hard on a rock it snapped the chain. Somehow the chain ring was undamaged so an easy fix with a quick link

Tidy looking rig. Is that the YT specialist?
Yeah pretty much - it's a pretty old Superfly SS but it's still got it; currently 32/16 which seems to be a pretty good compromise for the YTs and not being a spinny slow mess to / from there to home.

I will note however that I had my nose hairs waxxed for the first time Friday which has increased my O2 intake by about 15% so it could have also been that. My nostrils are so incredibly smooth but breathing out of it is super loud to me now. 9/10 would recommend.
Wait, are you saying you basically have a turbo nose now? (hint: say yes)

Had a quick bash around Harcourt on Sat with some mates and kids - only got to ride the Northern end - getting a tad Sandy in spots and Track 2 was a little chattery on the berms but a great day out with great weather albeit a little windy. Getting used to the Spectral 125 and it was great to ride around. Only thing is that I'd like to check out the rear hub - hopefully it's the upgraded DT370 hub with a star ratchet so I can put in a higher engagement ratchet in. Not a huge issue but would be nice to have. Couple of weeks after COVID and still feel it a little in the lungs when sucking air, but it's defiantly getting better.

How are you finding it so far?
It's good. Still getting used to a 29er and coming from a 2016 Remedy I've occasionally noticed the slightly smaller travel, but nothing too bad, once you drop the heals and and let it go it is a lot of fun descending, not quite a agile as the Remedy (it was slightly too small and 27.5 wheels) and slightly harder to get the front wheel in the air for some techier stuff (I don't quite have the trust in it yet).

I'm not the worlds greatest on jumps at the best of times but it goes OK, I do notice that it's less agile and harder for popping the front wheel but it reacts well and, well frankly I don't die on jumps so that's a tick. Much easier on the climbs tho, both the bigger wheels and steeper seat angle help and once I get used to the front wheel being in a different post code with bigger wheel and slacker front end I'll stop it getting caught out on random rocks etc. Keen to get it on some real technical descents to see how the slacker front end goes, just haven't had the time or opportunity to give it a bash. I've only done 85km on it and ridden the last one for 5 + years so all comments subject to change.

Overall probably much better suited to my needs as a trail bike. Spec wise pretty happy with it - would like a slightly better wheelset (mainly rear wheel) but it's defiantly doing the job as is and coming down a level or two in terms of suspension adjustment from the remedy isn't hurting me, but I'm a hack

They are very capable on steep and chunkier stuff too. Ive taken my 125 down the same trails I normally ride my 180/160 enduro bike and set faster / on par times and the bike never felt like it needed more travel. I was pretty impressed, no complaints here.

Been getting in about 4 rides per week just not taking many photos. But with all the excitement about the water running past @Haakon 's new mansion, I thought I would ride up near the source this morning.
I rolled out of the garage about 7 am and down the hill and over to the Kalang fire trail. Made my way up to the junction with the North South Track (yes, I walked up about 150 meters of the Priest fire road). I rode up the North South Track to the stone bridge over the top of the creek in the picture below.

You can drink the water up here at 400 meters. There is even a stone bench to rest your weary bones on.

Then turned around and rode back down the North South Track to the end in Glenorchy. Skipped the jumps today as my head wasn't in it and wanted to get home in one piece.
With day light saving having ended last Sunday gotta make the most of the few mornings left where there is time to ride before work.

Not sure if this is the right thread. Walked in to the shed, squeezed the tyres, yep they're good, out of the shed, sat my arse on it, took off. Half way down the driveway I'm thinking the rear tyre is flat. Fucking Hardtail brain kicked in first.

Anyway, 36km up and down the hills I showed you lot last week.

Off to Bunnings to by some Loctite. The front shock mount bolts nearly fell out.
