Little Things You Hate

Keeps on digging
Thought that was mainly on the Volvo trannies not Yamaha ones, did have a slight issue with mine but a fluid change on it and she was sweet. When I took to the tranny shop who specialised in euros said if it was the any other XC90 he’d tell me to keep walking due to the known issues with them but since it was the V8 it was unusual for it to have issues. Anyway after that never missed a beat.
All Volvos as far as I know use Japanese Aisen transmissions.

Obviously not, my swearing would be heard across Victoria. ;)
You know how when you get a scam call there's often a slight pause after you pickup and say hello?

Random little trick I've been trying for the last year or so - When I get a call from a unknown caller, I pickup the call but don't say anything.

I think the scammers must utilise an auto-dialler that only connects the call when it picks up on sound. No sound, and the dialler doesn't connect the call through to the scammer. Just hangs up, happens literally within 1-2 seconds.

I mean if anyone's actually trying to call you, worst case there'll be a confused silence, then a "Hello?" from the other end.

Obviously if you get a lot of calls from unknown numbers, this isn't going to help much (or just end up confusing the bejeezus out of your clients...), but for a personal number where the vast majority of people who call are 'known' numbers it works like a charm.

it can be several seconds sometimes, sometimes the call doesn't even connect. I get very few anonymous calls, the scammers used to do that, but I suspect a lot of people look at the call Number Display, and if it's anonymous (and they don't have friends with unlisted numbers), they just hang up.

interstate area code or +61.... calls are a dead giveaway.

I'm kind of curious to see which scammer is calling at a given time.
My "favourites" are the robo-calls from "telstra AND NBN" and the "Visa AND Mastercard 'department'" and "Amazon"

This is what I do too.

I had one about my internet recently. I got all "damn right it's slow! I was trying to watch adult films...do you know how hard it is to maintain an erection when the film looks like a slide show? I wasn't able to achieve climax!!! Hello? Hello?"
Why do I imagine you loudly having this conversation while onboard the train to work?

I think they just detect that the call was answered.

If so, then it will either hangup and put on the 'working number to be called later' or send you to an IVR when you can press '1' to chat a CSR where the well worn scam dialogue starts.

I used to get quite a few and they have tapered off lately. I do enjoy leading them on and wasting their time when Bruce from the subcontinent calls.

For a quick hangup, ask how is everything in East Bengal today, or ask them if they mind if I spank the monkey since I really do get aroused during these calls. Works a treat.
